About the Peptide

SS-31 (also known as elamipretide) is a synthetic four-amino-acid peptide that selectively concentrates in mitochondria — the cell’s energy organelles — by binding to cardiolipin in the inner mitochondrial membrane. It is one of the most thoroughly characterized mitochondria-targeted peptides in current clinical research.

Mitochondrial dysfunction sits beneath nearly every conversation about aging, energy, and metabolic health. For women, the cumulative effect of mitochondrial decline shows up as fatigue that doesn’t resolve with sleep, exercise capacity that diminishes faster than expected, and the metabolic shifts of midlife.
